What is the Cambridge International Examinations?

Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) is a provider of international qualifications, offering examinations and qualifications in more than 160 countries.

In 1858, The University of Cambridge (UK) formed the ‘Local Examinations Syndicate’, now known as Cambridge Assessment. Its aim was to raise standards in education by administering exams for
people who were not members of the University and inspecting schools. CIE was later opened as a division of Cambridge Assessment.

The Cambridge approach supports schools to develop learners who are:

  • Confident in working with information and ideas – their own and those of others
  • Responsible for themselves, responsive to and respectful of others
  • Reflective as learners, developing their ability to learn
  • Innovative and equipped for new and future challenges
  • Engaged intellectually and socially, and ready to make a difference in the world.

What does CIE offer?

Cambridge programmes and qualifications set the global standard for international education. They are created by subject experts, rooted in academic rigour and reflect the latest educational research.
They provide a strong platform for learners to progress from one stage to the next, and are well supported by teaching and learning resources.

Cambridge international qualifications are recognised by the world’s best universities and employers, giving students a wide range of options in their education and career.

What is a Cambridge International School?

All schools offering Cambridge qualifications must demonstrate their eligibility to do so by successfully registering with Cambridge International Examinations. Registered schools gain access
to a unique range of teaching and learning resources, professional development opportunities – and a world-class curriculum and wide range of qualifications for 5 to 19 year olds.

This process usually takes about three months and includes four (04) steps:

  1. Express interest: The School sends an initial letter of interest to CIE
  2. Complete ‘Application Form’: CIE will contact the School within five working days of submitting Application Form
  3. An approval visit: If the School meets requirements, CIE will arrange an approval visit.
  4. Become a Cambridge International School

After the Approval Visit, if the Cambridge standards are met, the School will be approved to become a Cambridge International School. Results will be sent to the School within 30 working days of the approval visit.

The International School of Vietnam (ISV) is a Cambridge International School
