Job Description

1. Classroom Management:

  • Establishing a classroom climate conducive to effective learning.
  • Making a significant contribution to improving the performance of the students.
  • Preparing and submitting weekly lesson plans when appropriate.
  • Encouraging productive teamwork among students.
  • Encouraging students to become involved and to participate at different levels of academic life and activities.
  • Ensuring that the code of conduct is understood and observed.
  • Providing an example to the students.

2. Student Assistance

  • Using a variety of means for overcoming weaknesses among students.
  • Displaying a positive and constructive tone of voice that encourages a healthy relationship with students.
  • Giving all students the same attention.
  • Employing a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media.
  • Making some provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.

3. Student Evaluation

  • Providing a complete summary of the student’s performance. 
  • Describing the student’s classroom behaviour, overall disposition, and attitude to subject, teacher, and classmates.
  • Showing evidence of the developing character of the student.
  • Specifying the skills, which the student uses without difficulty, has mastered, or must address.
  • Conferring with parents regarding student’s progress, strengths and weaknesses.

4. Professional Involvement and Growth

  • Participating in the selection of textbooks and other instructional materials and equipment where appropriate.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of the educational programme.
  • Working with the Head of School, HOE, Head of Vietnamese and other staff members in a positive and cooperative manner.
  • Keeping abreast of new trends in education and new ideas in his/her specific teaching field.
  • Serving as a member of the school, and on appropriate committees as required by the Head of School 
  • Setting an example of high moral, ethical and professional standards.
  • Dressing in a professional manner in accordance with the staff Handbook.
  • Being a proactive member of staff, displaying loyalty to the Head of School and others.
  • Participating in all professional development activities organized by the school and attending professional development as deemed appropriate by the school.
  • Being a mentor to new staff.

5. Specifics to Language Teaching

  • Liaise with the Head of School on Scope and Sequence of Teaching and Learning at ISV.
  • Create an Inquiry based model of teaching the Vietnamese language to ISV students.
  • Develop an assessment strategy in keeping with the ISV Assessment Policy.
  • Contribute to the ISV Extra Curricular Activity program.
  • Report on each student’s learning and outcomes.
  • Attend all staff meetings and collaborative planning meetings as per the requests of the School Leadership Team.
  • Participate in all training sessions given by the Cambridge and other organizations, including ICT training.

Essential Criteria

  • Native Vietnamese, good communication in English, Vietnamese (verbal and written). 
  • Linguistics and  Literature Teacher Education and/or Teaching Qualification and/or Pedagogy Certificate
  • Qualified and experienced educator with a minimum of two (2) year experience.
  • A dedicated teaching professional who places the needs of each student at the center of their focus.
  • Collaborative in approach to working.
  • A lifelong learner committed to personal and professional advancement.
